The Falls Festival

The Falls Festival is one of, if not the largest Festivals held along the Great Ocean Road.

Early Beginnings
The inaugural event in 1993 (then named Rock Above the Falls in an attempt to steer wayward travelers away from the turnoff to Erskine Falls) was a one-night event featuring nine bands including The Sharp, Cosmic Psychos, The Badloves, Nick Barker and Seaweed Gorillas.

Organisers expected around 5,000 punters to show up, but with a perfect 26 degree New Years Eve Day, nearly 11,000 music lovers converged onto the site, stretching the novice organisers to the limit. The Festival had launched onto the Australian live music landscape and 11,000 happy campers returned home raving about their awesome new year’s experience down on the Falls farm.

In 1995 the event changed to a two day format, and in 1996 the name was changed to The Falls Festival for the first time.

Falls Today
The Falls Music & Arts Festival has become one of Australia’s favourite events, so demand does exceed the 16,000 tickets available each year. Last year tickets sold out within 30 minutes!

Now a four day event, most people choose to camp on site and use the shuttle bus service to Lorne as they please.

Falls is an 18+ event, and it caters mainly for the younger crowd, with much hard partying involved!

Mike's Tip! If you can't get tickets, or just looking for a more family friendly event, try either the Queenscliff or Apollo Bay Music Festivals or the Port Fairy Folk Festival.
