A weekend along the Great Ocean Road
Loch Ard Gorge
Our first weekend away was a trip along the Great Ocean Road, we had to borrow my brother in laws car as it was doubtful ours would make it there and back.
We set off from Mt Eliza on a Friday afternoon and seemed to drive for hours just to get to the other side of Melburne. It was well worth the wait, the scenery is outstanding to say the least.
We stopped at EVERY single tourist site and the wind was so strong we had to park the car on an angle tp prevent the doors from being ripped off.
I remember we walked along London Bridge and it felt quite strange being away from the mainland. The actual bridge was to collapse some years later with a few tourists trapped, they were all rescued by helicopter. I would have hated that to happen to us!!!
We went to some place that was famous for volcanoes and walked up a steep, and I mean steep hill to see the crater. Hmmm, that was a waste of time but we were much fitter in those days.
We had a wonderful weekend away and I guess the funny thing is that the brakes went on the car. It turns out our car would have been the better and cheaper option.
